Musical Theatre

Grade 4-6
Wednesday 4:15-5:00
or
Friday 4:15-5:00

A very popular introduction to theatre! Musical Theatre combines acting, singing, and dancing – all equally important and necessary to the Musical art form. Students experience musical theatre performance through theatre games, pantomime, vocal and physical warm ups, song and dance sessions, storytelling poetry interpretation, and improvisational scene work.

The class is predominately a singing technique class that moves through different units of study. As outlined above, it uses song interpretation through acting and dance explorations to develop a greater understanding of how songs in musicals move the plot of a story along; proper and healthy voice training is a key factor in each class; the fundamentals of solfege and how to explore sheet music are also aspects covered in this yearlong course.
